Maximal Software is currently making available for download the student/trial versions of both MPL with CPLEX and OptiMax 2000 free of charge. The student/trial versions are limited size (300 constraints/variables) and work for a specific period, but otherwise fully functional versions of the software. This allows users to install the software on their own personal computer and evaluate it for use in optimization modeling projects.

Installation Instructions:

Step 1. Request Activation Code

    Contact Maximal Software to receive the activation code for the software. You can either fill out the:

      Request for Activation Code Form (preferrable)

    or send email to:

      download@maximalsoftware.com

    giving your name, and address along with other relevant information.

Step 2. Download the Software

    Select which file for MPL or OptiMax 2000 you want and then click on the name of the file to download it. Please note that before you can install OptiMax 2000, you need first to download and install first the MPL for Windows student version. If you are asked whether you want to save the file, choose to save it to your hard-disk. Please note the location, where you are saving it, since you are going to need it in Step 3.

    MPL for Windows 4.2 (Windows): Mplwin42Student.exe (5.6Mb) (download with FTP)

    OptiMax 2000 (First-time install): OptiMaxStudent.exe (2.6Mb)
    OptiMaxStudent.zip (2.5Mb)
    OptiMax 2000 (Update previous): OptiMaxStudentUpdate.exe (1.8Mb))
    OptiMaxStudentUpdate.zip (1.7Mb)

Step 3. Install the Software

    MPL for Windows 4.2:

    After you downloaded the Mplwin42Student.exe file, start the installation by double-clicking on the file from where you saved it in Step 2. If you downloaded the zip file Mplwin42Student.zip instead, use any of the tools such as Pkunzip.exe or WinZip to uncompress the file to a directory on your hard disk. Then start the installation by running theSetup.exe from the hard disk directory where you uncompressed the zip file.

    OptiMax 2000 Component Library:

    After you have installed MPL for Windows, you can start the installation for OptiMax 2000 by double-clicking either on the OptiMaxStudent.exe or the OptiMaxStudentUpdate.exe file you saved in Step 2, or if you downloaded either OptiMaxStudent.zip or OptiMaxStudentUpdate.zip, unzip the corresponding zip file and then run Setup.exe.

Step 4. Activating the MPL student license

    Before you can use MPL, you need to receive and install the MPL student license activation code that you requested in Step 1. The instructions on how to install the license, which is issued exclusively for MPL, are included in the email that we will send back to you. If you do not receive an email within 1-2 business days (most are sent within 24 hours), please check with us to see if we did receive the activation code request.
